Shed Plans - The Best Guide

Shed Plans : The complete guide.

Garden sheds. They’re a ‘male preserve apparently’ Yes I know, that’s a bit of a sweeping statement and I know I could be miles off the mark, but that’s just my opinion, controversial or not. It’s just that in my experience the garden shed is somewhere that men gravitate toward, either to potter around or to escape from their assigned chores.
With this in mind, I made a big assumption that buying a shed would be a very straightforward case of selecting, buying and putting up our new shed, and from then on, it would be my responsibility to maintain and clean it. (It’s a spider and insect thing I think!)

Anyway, what took me by surprise was the heated debate that ensued (with my wife). It soon became apparent that the choice of garden shed, it’s positioning and the building of it wasn’t going to be as straightforward as I had hoped. All credit to my wife, the main culprit in the whole debacle ended up being not her but me! Without warning, I became very choosy during our shed search to the extent that we somehow traded our usual shopping roles. Clearly I was very frustrating to be around in the garden center or the shed warehouse because I didn’t appear to be able to agree to anything in our shed hunt.

We soon ran out of places to look in our local area and very soon after, we had also been to every shed retailer in a thirty mile radius of where we live and believe me, that’s some radius!
Very quickly, and with some impressive objections from my wife, I decided I would have a go at building a shed myself. Within a few searches on the Internet and I had myself a brilliant set of plans that even I felt confident enough to have a go at.
The long and short of it is that we bought the plans and they were flexible enough to incorporate enough modification in the design for me to be able to complete my own project with very satisfying results.
At long last, we have a brilliant shed which even my wife is begrudgingly happy with. It has enough modification of our own to make it truly unique to us and it fulfills our needs perfectly, and the most satisfying thing about the whole process is the fact that I built it myself, thanks to some invaluable plans and tips.

I had no prior experience of woodworking other than what we did in school yet what this exersize has proven to me beyond a shadow of doubt, is that with the right resources, anyone can master the art of shed building without any previous woodworking knowledge.
If you are considering purchasing a garden shed and can’t find anything that ticks all your boxes, you could do a lot worse than building your own.
Don’t be put off because with the right tuition, you can achieve amazing professional results, and the results will be of your choosing.
